A humanoid robot collapsed on stage during a Qualcomm presentation at Computex 2026, and the company says the dramatic tumble was its safety system working as intended.
The robot, called 4NE-1 and developed by NEURA Robotics, is built on Qualcomm’s Dragonwing IQ10 Robotics Reference Design platform. During the demo, the robot walked up to a Qualcomm representative and handed him a Dragonwing IQ10 demo board before falling backward seconds later. Organizers covered the robot with cloth and carried it off stage.
Qualcomm told Tom’s Hardware that a brief communication failure triggered the built-in safe-shutdown system. The company said 4NE-1 carried out a designed safe-fall procedure intended to minimize risk to people nearby, and that the safety system performed normally despite how the situation appeared.
Qualcomm also noted that incidents like this help developers collect real-world data to improve algorithms and platform reliability. The Dragonwing IQ10 platform delivers around 700 TOPS of computing performance and is designed for humanoid robots and other complex autonomous systems.
