Peruvian workers raised their salary expectations modestly in the first half of 2026, with the average monthly figure climbing 1.19 percent to reach S/3,475 in June, according to the latest Labor Market Index from job platform Bumeran.
The sharpest figure in the report belongs to the technology sector. Candidates applying for supervisor and manager roles in systems and IT demanded as much as S/12,000 a month, well above every other category tracked in the survey.
Diego Tala Tala, Bumeran’s commercial director, said the data showed a labor market advancing gradually, with salary expectations growing at a moderate pace and reaching their highest level for the semester in June.
High-demand roles beyond technology
Other areas with elevated salary expectations for experienced candidates included taxes, where candidates sought S/5,200 a month, and geological engineering, technical office engineering, project engineering, and project leadership, each attracting demands of S/5,000. Business development and human resources administration roles drew expectations of S/4,000 a month.
At the semi-senior and senior level, urban planning and investment project roles reached S/6,000 a month in some months during the first half of the year, according to the report.
Urban planning also stood out at the junior level, where candidates in that field demanded up to S/5,000 a month, the highest expectation among entry-level applicants. Junior candidates in general management sought S/4,000, while economic evaluation and IT security roles drew expectations of S/3,500.
Service roles anchor the lower end
At the opposite end of the market, interns and trainees posted the lowest expectations, at S/1,130 a month. Call center roles attracted demands of S/1,500 and internal communications positions S/1,800.
Among more experienced workers, tourism registered the lowest salary expectation of any category, at S/1,500 a month for semi-senior and senior candidates. Customer service followed at S/1,700, and food engineering at S/2,000.
Experience gap exceeds S/3,200 a month
The report highlights a substantial divide tied to seniority. In June, junior candidates expected an average of S/2,365 a month, semi-senior and senior candidates sought S/3,535, and those targeting supervisor or management positions demanded an average of S/5,569. The gap between the lowest and highest tiers exceeded S/3,200 a month.
The 1.19 percent cumulative increase recorded in the first half of 2026 surpassed the 0.94 percent growth seen in the same period of 2025 but remained below the 2.70 percent rise recorded in 2024, suggesting a more cautious market than in prior years.
