After 16 months, the Prosecutor’s Office sentenced Luis OCA, 21, and Óscar OIC, 27, both from the Quevedo canton, to 34 years and eight months in prison for the crime of the politician and businessman from Rio de Janeiro, Patricio Mendoza Palma.
The two men were found guilty after judicial experts collected and presented the evidence and evidence surrounding the murder of the cholos as the politician was known.

The crime occurred on the night of December 21, 2020 outside a media outlet in Quevedo.
After the murder that shocked the province of Rio de Janeiro, there were several hypotheses that were analyzed around the violent act.
It was believed that the murder would be related to political issues, since the businessman was characterized by being frontal in his interviews, but eight months after countless investigations and the capture of one of those sentenced, it was learned that it was due to a conflict caused for the acquisition of a farm in an area of Balzar, province of Guayas.
So far, the two young men have been prosecuted in this case. The whereabouts of the mastermind is unknown, that is, the one who ordered and paid for the crime.

Joffre Patricio Mendoza Palma was mayor of the Buena Fe canton for two consecutive terms (1996-2000 and 2001-2006).
