Carlos Orejuela, ex-Emelec, is a new reinforcement of Chapecoense from Brazil

A former Emelec striker, Carlos Orejuela, was announced as a new contract for Chapecoense, who plays in the Brazilian B Series.

The 29-year-old striker, born in Esmeraldas, was at Ferroviária, in Serie D, and signed his contract until November 30 of this season.

Orejuela was in Olmedo, Espoli, Mushuc Runa, Orense and Deportivo Cuenca. With the electrics he won the title in 2017.

“Carlos Orejuela, 29, is Ecuadorian and will have his second experience in Brazilian teams at Chapecoense; the first was at Ferroviária, where he competed in the Paulista Championship. In Ecuador, the striker defended teams such as Deportivo Cuenca and Emelec, where he played for four seasons. Orejuela signed a definitive bond with Chape until November 30, 2022″, expressed part of the note published on the club’s official website.

On November 28, 2016, Chapecoense traveled to Medellín to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final. However, the flight that was transporting them from Santa Cruz (Bolivia) to Colombia ran out of fuel and crashed in La Unión (Antioquia), a few kilometers from their destination.

71 of the 77 occupants died, including 19 soccer players, as well as the president of the institution, the coach and almost the entire coaching staff. Of the 22 players called up, only three survived: Jakson Follmann (his right leg was amputated), Alan Ruschel and Neto. (D)
