The growth in prices for mobile communications in Russia may reach 10-20% in 2022. This was reported by Interfax with reference to experts.

“The increase will not be immediate, on some tariff plans – yes, on some – no, but in general, an increase of 10% for a number of tariffs and not for all subscribers in Russia,” said Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group .

He suggested that tariff prices could be reviewed in March-April. Meanwhile, Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov predicted tariff growth in the second half of the year.

Raiffeisenbank analyst Sergei Libin said that there is an assumption that if inflation is above 20%, probably, “we can assume that there will be price changes within this value.”

Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia filed a case against MTS, one of the leading mobile operators in the country, due to an unreasonable increase in prices for services.
As noted in a message in the official Telegram channel of the department, “in January 2022, the operator increased the cost of cellular services for more than 28 million subscribers by an average of 9.5%, justifying this by increasing its costs.” However, the FAS is convinced that this price increase “has no technological, economic or other justification, which violates the interests of consumers.” Last year, the FAS fined the mobile operator Tele2 for 825.5 thousand rubles. due to an unreasonable increase in tariffs in January 2021.

Izvestia, citing the FAS, reported that a common system for blocking spam calls and SMS messages will appear in Russia in the second quarter of 2022. It is assumed that the subscriber will be able to leave a complaint about advertising received without his consent on the website of the FAS or his operator. After that, customers will promptly receive a response from their operator, and the number from which the spam was received will be blocked by all companies connected to the system within 72 hours.
