The religious figure will tour the city of Loja on Sunday 31. A day later, a mass will be celebrated and will leave for Catamayo.
Everything is ready for the farewell to the marvelous image of the Virgin of El Cisne, which is found in the city of Loja. The ecclesiastical authorities presented the contingency plan to be executed in the return of the image to its sanctuary.
The activities will begin this Saturday, October 30 with a prayer space that will include 24 hours in which the doors of the Cathedral church will not be closed.
On Sunday, October 31, a tour of the image is planned through various streets of the city of Loja. It will leave from the Cathedral church and go down Bernardo Valdivieso street to Orillas del Zamora avenue, then continue along Salvador Bustamante Celi avenue, arriving at the northern Sauces neighborhood to the parish temple of Cristo Priest in Motupe.
“We will return along 8 de Diciembre avenue to the height of Terminal Terrestre, then along Isidro Ayora avenue to the neighborhood integration road, to reach the La Argelia sector through Pío Jaramillo avenue, La Tebaida sector. We will come along Avenida Eduardo Kingman, Bernardo Valdivieso and enter the cathedral church, ”said Father William Arteaga.
Mario Mancino, governor of Loja, mentioned that several institutions are supporting the safe return of the image. Control operations will be carried out by the National Police.
A Eucharist is scheduled for November 1 at 05:00. At 06:00 a mass will be held, presided over by Monsignor Walter Heras, bishop of the Diocese of Loja. Then custody of the image will be handed over to the National Police leadership.
The departure of the image from the Cathedral church to the María Auxiliadora parish in Catamayo is expected at 07:00, Arteaga mentioned.
The image will be transferred in the same car that arrived in Loja, inside an urn.
Juan Guerra, police commander of the Loja subzone, announced the contingent that will be in charge of the return of the image of the Virgin of El Cisne, which will consist of two superior officers, seven junior officers, 73 classes, and policemen, eight classes and police officers from the investigative and intelligence axis, with a total of 90 police officers.
Regarding logistics, Guerra indicated that 24 motorcycles, eight patrol cars, an ambulance, two buses, and a helicopter will participate in the transfer of the image. The arrival of the religious figure to Catamayo is scheduled to be at 10:00.
He will stay in Catamayo until November 6 and will leave for the San Pedro de la Bendita parish, where he will stay for ten days. On November 17 he will go to his sanctuary.
Although the rate of COVID-19 infections has decreased, the Diocese called on citizens to avoid crowds due to the health emergency.
