In addition, he said that today’s meeting will serve to generate defense actions against upcoming mobilizations that take place in the city. “We Quiteños are going to defend ourselves, the next time they come to try to commit acts of vandalism, we are going to give them what they deserve,” said Alarcón.

Another of the representatives who called this press conference was Andres Castillo, who pointed out that the The decision taken by the Assembly was inconsistent in legal and practical aspects.

According to the lawyer “indiscriminately granted amnesty to 268 citizens”. For this reason, they will enter the action for the protection of rights against the resolution of the National Assembly.

He added that his position is not against the amnesty process as an applicable remedy according to the legal system, but rather rejects that Each case has not been analyzed independently. “It is not the same to judge a citizen who fells a tree as it is to judge those who led acts of terrorism, kidnapping, extortion, that is, acts of lese humanity”, he limited.

Next Tuesday they will enter the protection action, according to Castillo, who asserted that, If the appeal is not admitted, they will go to provincial courts. In addition, he advanced that, if after the legal and constitutional actions that they will take, their requests are not granted, They will call for citizen marches through the streets of the capital.

Finally, they explained that the request for revocation of mandate will proceed against the assembly members of Pichincha, because this resource can only be entered by the voters of the territorial constituency to which they belong, that is, the assembly members elected in another province would be in the decision of their voters.

“The law establishes that the mandate revocation process proceeds one year after its possession, that is to say, May 14, it is close and we have enough time”, added Castillo. (I)
