Involvement of Russian volunteers to participate in a military special operation in Ukraine is not considered in Russia. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
Recall that earlier Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Security Council suggested that Putin attract volunteers to Ukraine. “If you see that there are people who want to come on a voluntary basis and help people living in Donbass, you need to meet them halfway and help them move to the war zone,” the head of state said.
According to Peskov, Shoigu was talking about those who applied from Syria and the Middle East. “There was no talk of our fellow citizens,” he clarified. When asked whether such plans exist at all, the Kremlin spokesman said that “it didn’t sound like anything” and that he knew nothing about them.
As for the goals of these volunteers, Peskov noted that if there are such volunteers in Ukraine, then the Russian Federation can also receive applications from those who want to “take part in what, in their opinion, is actually a national liberation struggle” for free. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that, as a result, such questions should be forwarded to the RF Ministry of Defense.
