There is suspicion about possible fuel shortages in Ibarra. The crossing of products in Rumichaca and the operation of the Tulcán terminal continue to be suspended.

The Pan-American highway (E-35) is obstructed in the sectors of Tumbatú (Carchi) and El Juncal (Imbabura), on the interprovincial border of both provinces. There, residents of the two sectors do not allow the circulation of cars.

Today, Afro-Ecuadorian settlers joined the de facto measure decreed by the indigenous organizations of Ecuador. In El Juncal there are complaints with photographs that show residents destroying the tires of bus drivers who have not complied with the measure.

The Carchi transit authorities recommended entering this province through the alternate lateral road that connects the Pan-American highway (E-35) with the Mascarilla-Mira- El Ángel-Bolívar route (E-187), until connecting again with the E road. -35 and continue towards Tulcán and the Rumichaca international bridge.

Fernando Villarroel, administrator of the land terminal of the capital of Carche, reported that they closed operations to preserve the integrity of passengers, units and drivers.

Those responsible for the Tulcán and San Gabriel markets are concerned, since the fruits and products that come from Cayambe, Ambato and other cities for the production of purple laundry would not reach these jurisdictions if the blockade continues.

Patricio Rodríguez, president of the Carchi Heavy Transport Association, commented that the losses caused by the suspension of exports and imports by the Rumichaca international bridge, which has remained empty since Tuesday, are incalculable.

One of the biggest concerns of the motorcyclist sector is that companies stop seeing land freight transport as attractive and the international trade of merchandise opts to make shipments through the sea, leaving more than a thousand unemployed of truckers.

Nonetheless, In Ibarra there is suspicion that the fuel stations will be unsupplied, since the tankers cannot arrive in the north of the country. In these places, the long lines of motor vehicles whose drivers struggle to access gasoline or diesel are evident.

The protest day until the second day registers nine detainees in Imbabura and one in Tulcán. In the first province, the entry routes to Eugenio Espejo, Carabuela, Pinsaquí, La Magdalena, Quichinche, Peguche and Selva Alegre, in Otavalo, are closed. Meanwhile, in Cotacachi, closures are reported on the road to Cuicocha and in Urcuquí, Coñaqui sector. (I)
