In a delayed match valid for the third round of the French Championship, Nice and Olympique de Marseille drew 1-1 on Wednesday. The duel was held in August, but was stopped and rescheduled after an invasion of the fans in the second half.
Due to the confusion, the confrontation was rescheduled to a neutral field and without the presence of an audience. Nice was winning 1-0 at the time of the interruption, but the game was restarted from the beginning and with the score zero.
Even so, the French Riviera team came out ahead again. Just six minutes into the first half, Amine Gouiri submitted with a right foot and put Nice ahead.
Marseille sought a draw shortly before the break. On minute 41, the Brazilian Gerson received it on the left and played from first to the middle. After Milik’s light cut, Dimitri Payet dominated by adjusting to his right foot and kicking low to give final numbers to the confrontation.
With the result, the two teams lost their chance to take the vice-leadership of the French Championship. Nice are in third place, with 20 points won after 11 matches. The Olympique de Marseille appears in fourth place, with 19 points.
