Several roads were closed since Monday, October 26; the authorities are working on enabling traffic.
The Chamber of Agriculture Zone 1 issued a statement proposing dialogues with protesters to avoid the closure of roads in the provinces of Pichincha and Imbabura.
Since the morning of Monday, October 26, they reported several closures on the Cayambe, Tabacundo and Otavalo highways. This morning, crashes were also reported in the extreme north of Quito.
The statement maintains that the unions of agricultural production of Ecuador, chambers, agricultural centers and associations they open the doors to enter into dialogues in order to find technical solutions for the crisis.
According to the Chamber of Agriculture, due to the national strike in October 2019 there were losses close to $ 830 million, product of the closure of roads and blockade of cities.
In addition, they specified the support for the government for the actions that apply for the qualification of the roads, “including the use of public force and the initiation of legal and criminal actions against those who violate these constitutional rights (free mobility) through the use of violence ”.
The protesters, for their part, have risen up in resistance to the measures taken by the Government, especially by the freeze with increased cost of fuels. (I)
