A bill has been submitted to the State Duma on sending citizens who were held accountable for participating in protests against a military special operation in Ukraine to military service in the LDNR, a Rosbalt correspondent reports.

“Citizens brought to justice for participating in an unauthorized public event directed against the use of the Russian Armed Forces outside the territory of the Russian Federation are subject to conscription for military service. Such citizens are sent for military service in the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics,” the bill submitted to the State Duma by LDPR deputies Andrei Lugovoi and Yaroslav Nilov says.

The deputies recalled the shelling of Donbass over the past eight years.

“At the same time, there are people in our country who do not agree with the conduct of a military operation and are ready to violate the law, seeking to stop it,” the deputies noted. In their opinion, by doing so, the protesters “actually oppose the establishment of peace and security on the territory of the LDNR.”

“It seems that such persons should see with their own eyes what the Kyiv regime has turned into the territory of these republics,” the explanatory note to the project says.

In turn, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that he considers such a call hardly possible. Military service is a privilege, not a punishment, he added.
