“We are about 85 people who could not get on the plane despite the fact that in the morning, at 11:30 they confirmed that we were on the boarding list”, said one of the Ecuadorian students who at this time are still at the Warsaw airport waiting for some information about the possibility of a new flight. to bring it to Ecuador.
The student who had been in Kiev, Ukraine for eight months and who asked that her name not be revealed, says that the Foreign Ministry list included people who did not arrive from other Polish cities at Warsaw airport and also others who refused to go up without their pets.
“The plane was supposed to be full, but in the end they left us stranded at the airport and not only students, but also families with children. They told us that there will be another flight and that we go back to the hotel, but there is no hotel or transportation,” the student lamented.
In a video broadcast on social networks, the foreign minister Juan Carlos Holguín, said that the plane is on its way to Quito and confirmed that it left with 248 Ecuadorians and not with the 350 that he announced in the morning.
“We made this tough decision in this war room in an operational change because we decided to first evacuate the citizens who were in Slovakia and Hungary. At the moment the people who stayed from the flight are being transferred so that they have accommodation in Warsaw; tomorrow there will be a new humanitarian plane with 350 places that will reach everyone and thus have more than 500 evacuees from the war on Saturday”, pointed out the chancellor.
But until 9:00 p.m. this Thursday, even the 80 people who did not board the plane with a capacity of 350, were still at the Warsaw airport waiting for answers.
“In war, decisions are made up to the minute,” said the foreign minister. (I)
