The US government intends to close the country’s airspace to Russian aircraft, writes The Wall Street Journal, citing sources. According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, a decree on this could be issued within the next 24 hours.

Reuters also confirmed, citing sources, that the decision could be announced on Wednesday.

On February 27, the sky was completely closed for Russian aircraft of the EU countries. Now Russian planes cannot land and take off in the EU, as well as fly over its territory.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.”

In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
