Angamarca is a traditional neighborhood of Alangasí, located in the southeast of Quito, which has been celebrating carnivals for 101 years with music, dance and traditions typical of the sector.
The residents disguised as different characters parade throughout the neighborhood, dancing, drinking chicha and wasting joy for the people who visit this place, the tour ends at the neighborhood stadium.
And this year was no exception. This Sunday, the residents took to the streets to parade dressed as indigenous people, animals and dancers.
The president of the commune, Juan Carlos Morocho, said that every year this parade is organized by all the residents of this sector, who dress up as different characters, whether they are children’s superheroes, traditional ones, clowns and animals.
Morocho said that every year the parade starts at 10:00 in the central park and ends at 2:00 p.m. in the same place, that is, they go through the entire neighborhood for four hours. (I)
