Ambato
Happy and grateful for the signs of affection that the Ambateño people give her in each act she attends. This is how Ana Isabel Cobo, queen of Ambato, was shown, who this Sunday, February 27, presided over the parade of the 71st edition of the Fruit and Flower Festival (FFF), which due to the pandemic was held simultaneously from 09:00 by four different routes.
“For me it is beautiful to be part of the history of my city, also knowing that the talent and creativity of many people are placed in each allegory of the allegorical cars, which are made with natural products from the land, that is why the parade is part of the cultural heritage of the country”, expressed the sovereign.
With changes, Ambato expects a large influx of tourists to the traditional Fruit and Flower Festival
With a Long live Ambato! people greeted the queen, who returned the greeting with a smile and despite the rain that fell this Sunday morning, she did not stop cheering with her hands while the refrain was heard “Ambato, land of flowers/ little cute land/ cradle of the sun”.
Cobo was mobilized in the allegorical car with the image of Hermelinda Urvina, an Ambateño who was the first Ecuadorian woman pilot.
Anabel Jerez, marketing advisor of the FFF Permanent Committee, recalled that there were four routes where people could watch the parade without the crowds of when it was done on Cevallos and Bolívar avenues. In each route there were allegorical cars and the respective troupes.
To avoid crowds on a single route, the night round this Monday, from 6:00 p.m., will also have three routes: Ingahúrco, Miñarica and Izamba.
Jerez mentioned that the allegorical cars were made with representative characters from Ambato, as well as traditional gastronomy, because the 71st edition of the FFF intends to motivate the population to get up and move on after what they have had to live through for the pandemic, just as it was after the earthquake of August 5, 1949.
Carnival troupe filled the streets of Cuenca with color
Daniela Espín, queen of the College of Professional Journalists of Tungurahua, was also pleased to participate in the parade.
He argued that it must be understood that this year due to the pandemic is different and that for that reason there must be co-responsibility of the citizenry to avoid negative consequences after the Fruit and Flower Festival. (I)
