They identify two of the victims of the landslide on the Loja-Zamora road; search work continues in the area

The search for more victims of the landslide produced at km 39 of the Loja-Zamora road was restarted on the morning of this Tuesday, October 26. The natural event dragged several vehicles and their occupants last Friday.

So far, the governor of the province of Zamora, Absalón Campoverde, confirmed the identity of two rescued victims: Hugo Quevedo and Silvana Sánchez, whose bodies were recovered on Monday 25.

For now, rescue teams from different institutions are working to find more victims. Now, unofficially, there is talk of four missing persons, who are expected to be found in the next few hours.

After the removal of the body by the Directorate of Violent Deaths (Dinased) and the recognition of the next of kin present at the scene, it was determined that the second body rescued corresponds to Silvana del Rocío Sánchez Capa, 32 years old. She was originally from the province of Loja and worked in the parish GAD of Los Encuentros.

Since last Sunday, the work of firefighters from the provinces of Loja, Zamora Chinchipe and Morona Santiago has been arduous. In addition, there are personnel who have been hired and volunteers who are collaborating with the search on the banks of the Zamora river and the Delsitanisagua dam.

Teachers and parents have joined the search and support activities with food for rescue groups.

Machinery of private construction companies that are working in the province of Loja has been taken to the El Retorno sector to carry out the cleaning of the road and correction of slopes, which allow the total opening of the road without danger.

On the other hand, the educational establishments Juan XXIII and María Paulina Solís de Yantzaza suspended classes due to the disappearance of the teachers Sonia Jadán and Hugo Quevedo, who worked in those schools.

In addition, in Zamora a burning chapel was erected for the Quevedo Jadán spouses. Meanwhile, in one of the wake-up rooms in Loja, the wake of Sánchez Capa began. (I)
