The head of the Yekaterinburg company Promelectronica Evgeny Bykov told how his business had already suffered from Western sanctions due to the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
According to him, the bank of the Sovcombank company was included in the sanctions list. As a result, by Friday morning, the company lost foreign currency accounts, balances on them and the accumulated “airbag” in the form of several million dollars. As a result, at the moment, Promelectronica has ceased to be a participant in foreign economic activity, that is, it has lost the opportunity to import goods – electronic components.
Also, as Yevgeny Bykov said, shipments to Russia were stopped by the world’s largest distributors – Arrow and Avnet, which were the largest supply channels for various components – from microcircuits to resistors.
Also, due to Berlin’s announcement of a total blockade of Russian banks, the company lost the opportunity to pay for goods in Germany, where Promelectronica has dozens of different suppliers producing a wide range of electronic components.
“The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the US Department of Commerce (the export control regulator) has published details of new restrictions on the export of technological products for Russian industries. In short, this is a “rejection policy” mode, that is, by default, nothing can be imported. In each case, it is necessary to prove the purely humanitarian nature of the imported products,” Evgeny Bykov continued.
The same regime, according to the businessman, applies to third countries, in particular China. “There will be no legal supplies of components of American brands from there. And this is about 70-80% of the needs of the electronics industry,” the entrepreneur stated.
In addition, Taiwan, as the world’s largest semiconductor factory, took a pro-American position and, in the person of TSMC, announced the termination of cooperation with the Russian Federation. “This means you can forget about Baikal and Elbrus. It is impossible to do this on the territory of the Russian Federation. Now never again, because no equipment for the production of semiconductors will be delivered to us with 100 percent certainty, ”Bykov explained.
In his opinion, the electronic industry of the Russian Federation is coming to an end. “A manufacturer doesn’t need 90 or 95 or even 99% of the components to start a production run. All you need is 100%. And it becomes unattainable. We are guaranteed not to be able to provide our customers with everything they need, and therefore they will stop. And that narrow, but still stream of import substitution is covered with a copper basin, – says the businessman. “Supplies of finished electronic products for non-humanitarian purposes will be cut off quickly and decisively, if they haven’t already. With modern electronics in all its manifestations in the foreseeable future will have to say goodbye. Heat soldering irons! We’ll have to fix what we have.”
