A minor, approximately 6 years old, died after being run over by an intercantonal passenger transport bus on the E15 south highway, via Esmeraldas-Atacames, at noon on Tuesday 26.
According to witnesses, the girl was returning from the Tonchigüe parish in an urban service bus and got off at the Nueva Esperanza neighborhood stop, in the Same campus. When trying to cross the road, an intercantonal bus that circulated in the opposite direction hit the minor.
Teófilo Montaño, a resident of the place, said that residents of the place picked up the victim and transferred her to the Juan Carlos Guasti hospital in Atacames, where her death was confirmed.
Meanwhile, the driver of the bus that caused the run-over would have fled, but the residents registered the disk number, license plate and name of the company to which it belongs, to file the respective complaint.
Marco Ojeda, another resident, said that they have asked the Atacames Municipal Transit Company to place a speed breaker or a traffic light, since it would not be the first accident with deaths in that place. (I)
