The United States announced the presence of “little green men” throughout eastern Ukraine. According to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, we are talking about the Russian military presence, which has been observed in Ukraine since 2014.
“We called them ‘little green men’ because they weren’t in Russian military uniforms. Now we know that they are located throughout eastern Ukraine, and although they are not in military uniform, they behave exactly as the Russian military would behave, ”Psaki said at a briefing.
Psaki added that the United States does not consider the Russian military to be peacekeepers. According to her, they “help to lay the conditions for war, and this is the purpose of a large part of them.”
Earlier, US leader Joe Biden noted that Russia could launch indirect attacks on Ukraine, stressing that the US would be ready to respond to sending “little green men in uniform.” At the same time, Russia has repeatedly stated that “Russia is not waging any hybrid wars” and denied the possibility of a military invasion of Ukraine.
Recall that on February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR, as well as agreements with their heads on friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding. On February 22, Putin received permission from the Federation Council to use the armed forces abroad.
