The National Police deployed several units to control the incidents in the prison.
Clashes continue in the Litoral Penitentiary. On the night of this Monday, the 25th, detonations were reported inside that Guayaquil prison.
The National Police reported that together with the National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty (SNAI) and the Armed Forces maintain control of said prison.
Several Police units have been deployed to the Penitentiary to stop the incidents.
At 10:08 p.m., the SNAI indicated that said disturbances “are not related to a confrontation between gangs” and that control was retaken in one of the pavilions of that detention center.
Until 10:30 p.m., neither the National Police nor the SNAI indicated whether there were any injuries or deaths from these incidents.
Last Saturday, seven inmates were found hanging and dead in the intimate visiting area of Pavilion 10 of that prison.
The Office of the Public Prosecutor initiated an investigation into these deaths. (I)
