The Basque Government today approves the largest budget project in its history, up to 13 billion

The Basque budgets for 2022 are aimed at facing the crisis derived from the pandemic and its economic and social consequences. Three out of every four euros will go to social spending. In addition, the investment will reach 1.6 billion euros.

The Governing Council will approve in today’s meeting the Basque budget project for 2022. For the first time will reach € 13 billion, which represents 5% more (600 million) than in 2021. Three out of every four euros will go to social spending, in areas such as health, education or social protection. In addition, the investment capacity of the Basque Government for next year will be 1600 million. This investment bet will go mainly to social, economic, energy and environmental infrastructures and communications. To this must be added the extraordinary investment plan of 250 million, approved at the end of September, which began to be carried out this year.

The absolute majority of the partners of the Basque Government, PNV and PSE-EE, guarantees the approval of the Budgets for 2022 without the support of any of the opposition groups. However, the Lehendakari has shown his willingness to speak with parliamentary groups to obtain more support.
