Avocado production increased 39.6% in August of this year

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported that the avocado production totaled 32,460 tons in August this year, 39.6% higher than that reported in the same month of 2020 (23,260 tons). This result was influenced by the adequate climatic conditions that allowed the development of the crop.

At the department level, the avocado production It increased mainly in the areas producing Lambayeque (90.5%), Lima (83.5%) and La Libertad (40.0%) that concentrated 65.7% of the national production.

In addition, it increased in Cusco (254.8%), Apurímac (175.9%), Arequipa (164.6%), Pasco (126.0%), Cajamarca (84.9%), Junín (50.5% ), Áncash (50.1%) and Huánuco (2.3%). However, it fell in Piura (-66.2%), Ayacucho (-56.8%), Ica (-55.8%) and Moquegua (-12,2%).

Hard yellow corn production

The INEI also revealed that in the eighth month of the year, 80.1% of the production of hard yellow corn came from the departments of Lima (167.7%), Ica (123.0%), Áncash (110.6 %), Lambayeque (98.8%), Cajamarca (76.2%) and Freedom (2.6%). In addition, Madre de Dios (365.7%), Pasco (25.6%) and Loreto (2.7%) showed positive behavior. However, it decreased in San Martín (-52.2%), Ucayali (-47.8%), Huánuco (-34.4%), Apurímac (-31.1%), Piura (-23.6%) , Junín (-13.6%) and Amazonas (-2.2%).

At the national level, the production of yellow corn hard reached 126,191 tons and grew by 33.5% compared to the same month last year, due to the larger areas harvested due to the good weather conditions recorded, which favored the start of the 2021-2022 crop season.
