The holding of an emergency meeting of the heads of diplomatic departments of the G7 member countries against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine is being coordinated for the current February. It is reported by Kyodo News agency, citing sources.

According to preliminary data, the meeting can be organized in Germany. The central topic to be discussed by the participants will be Ukraine and what is happening around it.

The meeting will probably be timed to coincide with the Munich Security Conference. It will be held February 18-20.

The Group of Seven (G7) is an informal international club that brings together the UK, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan, and the United States.

Earlier it became known that the G7 countries will hold a meeting on February 24, at which they will discuss sanctions against Russia. At the meeting, in addition to the G7 participants, there will be representatives of European states.

Previously, this format was called the G8 due to the participation of Russia, but the G8 turned into the G7 in 2014, after Crimea became part of the Russian Federation, and part of the Donbass broke away from Ukraine.
