The Russian Olympic Committee issued an official statement regarding the “Valiyeva case”. which was published on the ROC website.
It notes that on February 8, after the end of the Olympic team figure skating competitions, the ROC received information from the International Testing Agency (ITA) that RUSADA applied to Kamila Valieva such a measure as a temporary suspension from the competition in connection with receiving Stockholm Anti-Doping Laboratory notification of the discovery in the doping sample of the skater, taken on December 25 last year, trimetazidine, belonging to “class S4.4 of the 2021 WADA Prohibited List”.
It is noted that the athlete, both before and after that, passed doping tests, the results of which were negative. On February 9, the Disciplinary Committee of RAA RUSADA lifted the temporary suspension.
This decision can be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS), but for now “Valiyeva has the right to train and take part in competitions in full without restrictions.”
The ROC statement says that in order to protect the rights and interests of Valieva, “qualified lawyers were involved in this case, who provide the Athlete with all the necessary legal assistance,” and everything will be done to keep the won gold medal in figure skating for the Russian team.
According to Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee, the delay in publishing the results of Kamila Valieva’s doping test looks very strange.
The decision on the “Valiyeva case” must be made by CAS before February 15 – before the start of the singles competition at the Games.
