Patients who have had coronavirus may experience hearing loss. Otolaryngologist Olga Malchenko spoke about this in an interview with the Zvezda TV channel.

According to her expert, the coronavirus can affect peripheral nerve cells, and the “omicron” walking around the planet can cause ear inflammation. The virus enters the auditory tube through the nose and can lead to the development of otitis media. Malchenko clarified that if the auditory canal is affected, it is fraught with long-term treatment and possible hearing loss.

However, the doctor urged the Russians to calm down, noting that the coronavirus does not always lead to complications, and with a timely visit to the doctor, the problem can be solved at an early stage.

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Russian Federation over the past day increased by 197,076 (a day earlier 183,103). The total number of cases reached 13 million 527 thousand 845.

Recall that Roszdravnadzor decided to switch to the daily collection of data on the availability of vaccines and drugs against covid using the drug labeling system. Thus, the Russian government hopes to prevent a possible shortage of medical supplies due to the spread of the Omicron strain.

In addition, Russia has canceled the 14-day isolation for those in contact with patients with coronavirus. If a patient with COVID-19 has been treated for more than seven days, they do not need a negative test to be discharged.
