President Guillermo Lasso announces the donation of $100,000 from the Chinese government for those affected by the flood in La Comuna and La Gasca

On the morning of this Tuesday, February 8, 2022, the President Guillermo Lasso announced China’s donation of a budget of $100,000 for those affected in the north center of Quito. This budget will be used for refrigerators and other items that were lost with the force of the flood.

The mandatary went to the unified command post that the authorities have arranged to deal with the affectations in La Comuna and La Gasca due to the flood of last January 31.

The president also stated that a $252 allowance and that the Municipality of Quito must report on the aid to the victims this week.

“The approach is humanitarian, we will not make a distinction between landlords and tenants for help,” added Lasso.

The session, which lasted more than an hour, took place in the Faculty of Jurisprudence of the central University (UCE), in the north center of the capital.

For his part, the mayor Santiago Guarderas pointed out that this Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. he will present the Rehabilitation and Reactivation Plan of the area affected by the flood.

Until then, the destroyed area keep safe, this in order to provide security to the inhabitants who they lost cement structures and doors, as well as the cleaning work that is maintained in ground zero, under the ecuavóley court of La Comuna.

Vice President Alfredo Borrero, Ministers of Government, Defense and Economic and Social Inclusion, Quito Mayor Santiago Guarderas and Pichincha Prefect Paola Pabón were also present at the meeting. (I)
