German Economy Minister Robert Habeck and French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire reacted to the threats from the American technology company Meta, making it clear that Europe will do fine without Facebook and Instagram, which are part of the corporation, reports Bloomberg.
“After the hack, I lived without Facebook and Twitter for four years and my life was fantastic,” the German minister was quoted as saying by iXBT.com.
For his part, Le Maire hinted at the same thing: “I can confirm that life without Facebook is very good, and we would be fine without Facebook. The digital giants must understand that the European continent will resist and assert its sovereignty.”
Recall, on the eve of the publication Mashable said that Meta could completely stop the work of social networks Facebook and Instagram in Europe, and the dispute over the place where users’ personal data is stored became the reason for such threats.
We also add that on February 3, shares of Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, collapsed by more than 22% amid falling profits for the fourth quarter of 2021. Facebook’s daily active users have dropped for the first time in 18 years.
