Human rights activists: The decision to arrest Zarema Musayeva was made while she was fainting

THIS MESSAGE (MATERIAL) IS CREATED AND (OR) DISTRIBUTED BY A FOREIGN MASS MEDIA PERFORMING THE FUNCTIONS OF A FOREIGN AGENT AND (OR) A RUSSIAN LEGAL ENTITY PERFORMING THE FUNCTIONS OF A FOREIGN AGENT.

The court session in Chechnya, which considered the administrative protocol against Zarema Musaeva, who was taken by the security forces from Nizhny Novgorod to Chechnya, took place when she was unconscious. This, according to Novaya Gazeta, is reported by the Committee against Torture (CAT) (recognized in the Russian Federation in 2015 as an NPO acting as a foreign agent, after which the legal entity self-liquidated. In 2016, the CPT was also recognized as a foreign agent, after which human rights activists began to operate under the same name, but without forming a legal entity).

According to human rights activists, Zarema fainted when the judge asked her to introduce herself. The woman woke up already in the detention center. Without giving Musayeva the opportunity to speak, the court appointed her 15 days of arrest.

Now Musayeva is under arrest already as a defendant in a criminal case on the use of dangerous violence against a security official (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). Her state of health is serious – the woman has severe weakness, it is difficult for her to walk. However, Zarema Musaeva does not complain about the attitude in the pre-trial detention center. According to her, they provide assistance to her, quickly respond to all her requests and comments.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, who has already stated that the family of the former judge Suldi Yangulbaev belongs “either in prison or underground,” believes that the woman “earned” a real term. Musayeva’s husband and children, including the defendant’s middle son Ibragim Yangulbaev, who was put on the federal wanted list, left the territory of Russia.

Human rights activists link the kidnapping of Musaeva with the activities of her son Abubakar Yangulbaev, an ex-employee of the North Caucasian branch of the checkpoint. Another son of Musaeva, Ibragim Yangulbaev, became a defendant in a criminal case on public calls for terrorist activities (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code).

The qualification board of judges of Chechnya has stopped the resignation of Musaeva’s husband Judge Yangulbaev, which means depriving him of immunity.
