Criminalistics personnel and the National Directorate of Violent Deaths (Dinased) went to Colinas de Florida to gather evidence.
The Ecuadorian Olympic sprinter Álex Quiñónez was shot and killed on the night of this Friday the 22nd. The violent incident occurred in the Colinas de la Florida sector, in the northwest of Guayaquil.
According to witnesses, several subjects wearing suits similar to those of the National Police arrived at the site and fired at two people, one of them Quiñónez.
The attackers arrived in a vehicle around 9:20 p.m. Another individual was killed in the act. He was identified as Christopher Arcalla Ramírez, who has no criminal record, according to police information.

Roberto Ibáñez, president of the Guayas Provincial Sports Federation (Fedeguayas), confirmed the murder of Quiñónez.

The Ministry of Sports of Ecuador also referred to the event. “Today we lost a great athlete, a person who made us dream, who made us excited,” published this State portfolio.
The National Police reported that they activated equipment for the capture operations of those allegedly responsible for these murders.
Quiñónez represented Ecuador at the London 2012 Olympic Games, where he was a finalist in the 200-meter athletics event. He also won the bronze medal at the 2019 World Cup in Doha (Qatar).
The athlete was listed as “the best sprinter in the history of Ecuador” by the Ministry of Sports. (I)
