The Russian government has approved a roadmap for further reforming the technical inspection industry in 2022–2023.
In particular, owners of vehicles, for which the obligation to undergo technical inspection has been retained, are waiting for simplified inspection rules and new tariffs, which will be developed by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), Kommersant newspaper reports.
As the publication found out, the authority to check maintenance operators will be transferred from the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RSA) to the Federal Accreditation Service, which intends to make control over technical inspection “transparent and understandable” with the help of “digital services”.
However, technical inspection operators are calling for a moratorium on further reforms in the industry and abandoning state price regulation.
We also recall that on December 30, 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law abolishing mandatory technical inspection.
Meanwhile, the joy of the long-awaited cancellation of mandatory technical inspection for most car owners can seriously complicate the new fines and greed of insurers. Read more about this in the material “Rosbalt”.
