BBVA earns 4,653 million in 2021, three times more than in 2020

The BBVA group has recorded an attributable profit of 4,653 million euros in 2021a figure 3.6 times higher to the 1,305 million euros achieved a year earlier, as reported by the entity on Thursday. Only in the fourth quarter of 2021, the benefit (1,341 million) has exceeded that recorded in the whole of 2020.

Likewise, the banking group has announced the payment of a dividend 31 euro cents per share charged to these results, the highest in cash in the last ten years.

Excluding non-recurring impacts, BBVA’s attributable profit in 2021 reached 5,069 million euros (+95.5%), which is practically double the results of the 2020 financial year. of the highest recurring result in the last ten yearsthanks “to the good performance of income and lower credit provisions.”

Refering to shareholder remunerationthe bank plans to submit to the approval of the general meeting the payment in cash of a dividend of 23 euro cents gross per share. This payment, which is scheduled for April 2022is added to the 8 cents that the bank paid in October 2021. In total, 31 cents for the year 2021the highest dividend per share in cash in the last 10 years, which represents a payout of 44%.
