In the early hours of this Monday the 31st, the Specialized Antinarcotics Police seized 1.24 tons of cocaine inside a farm located in the Palenque canton, in the province of Los Ríos.

The Police reported that a person who was guarding the illicit cargo was detained for investigations. The suspect has no criminal record, according to authorities.
The institution reported that the drug is valued at $18,000,000 and that it was intended to be taken to the Ecuadorian coast and then sold abroad, specifically in the United States.
In addition, agents reported that the police investigations in this case lasted more than three months and that with the confiscation, about 11,400,000 doses of drugs have been removed from the market.
They also mentioned that the route that was handled to transport the drug began in Colombia, then entered through several provinces of the Sierra until it reached Los Ríos and later it was intended to take it to the coastal zone for its transfer by sea through ports.
So far this year, this is the largest drug shipment that has been seized in this province. In this same month, in an operation carried out in the Buena Fe canton, 250 kilos of cocaine were seized. (I)
