US President Joe Biden has no desire or intention to send troops to Ukraine. This statement was made by the representative of the White House Jen Psaki.
According to her, the decision on the deployment of the military will be made jointly with NATO partners. Psaki pointed out that Washington has obligations to the bloc, which it takes very seriously.
She emphasized that NATO is a defensive alliance, and stated that only Russia behaves aggressively in this conflict.
Earlier, The New York Times wrote that Biden was allegedly considering the possibility of deploying several thousand American troops, as well as ships and aircraft, in the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg clarified that the bloc would not deploy combat units in Ukraine.
In turn, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said on CNN that the United States would send new military aid to Ukraine.
“We have already sent three aid shipments over the past few days, more are expected (deliveries),” he said.
Kirby added that the timing of sending 8.5 thousand troops to Europe has not yet been determined. Much will depend on the actions of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin,” he said.
