When developing a new manned spacecraft, which is being prepared to replace the Soyuz, it was decided to abandon the domestic compartment. As the general designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RKK) Energia, Vladimir Solovyov, explained, the fact is that after the high-speed transport system (two-turn and four-turn) was mastered, the need for a domestic compartment at the ship simply disappeared.

According to Solovyov, Interfax reports, the new ship must be reusable and launched into orbit by Soyuz-5 rockets. It is being developed on the basis of the promising Orel lunar spacecraft and will replace the Soyuz and Progress spacecraft.

Recall that in October last year, Solovyov reported that the launch of the new Russian manned spacecraft “Eagle” could be postponed. The Oryol spacecraft may be part of a complex for flights to other planets or asteroids, Igor Khamits, chief designer of the spacecraft, said earlier.

Currently, Russia is developing a reusable ship “Eagle” as part of the development work “Federation”. The first flight of the ship without a crew is scheduled for 2023, with a crew – for 2025. The ship is designed to deliver people and cargo to space stations in near-Earth orbit, and is also one of the key elements of the existing concept of lunar exploration. To create it, technologies are used that sometimes have no analogues in the world astronautics.

The crew of the ship will be up to four people. The ship will be able to stay in autonomous flight mode for up to 30 days, while flying as part of an orbital station – up to a year. The total mass of the ship during the flight to the orbital station will be 14.4 tons (19 tons during the flight to the Moon), the mass of the return vehicle will be 9 tons. The length of the ship is 6.1 meters.
