did not help the Scandinavian teams. If the Polish team had defeated Spain, then the Norwegians and the Swedes would have been happy for the promotion to the semi-finals, regardless of the result of their last direct match.
The disastrous end of the Norwegians
Before the match, Norway – Sweden were in a better position, because they were satisfied with a draw (they had a better goal balance). The Swedes had to win.
In the first half, the first ones, who were already leading by six goals, dominated. At the end of the match the Norwegians lost on their own wish. Even in the 55th minute, after Sander Sagosen’s shot, they were leading until 23:19. By the end of the match, however, they did not score, and they conceded as many as five.
15 seconds from the end, right-winger Valter Chrintz scored 24:23 for Sweden. The Norwegians, however, had the last action for a draw and a promotion to the semi-finals. Sagosen, six seconds before the siren, however, threw past the goal.
As a result, Sweden joined Spain and Denmark and will play in the medal zone. France and Iceland are competing for the last vacancy. The last matches of the group stage will take place on Wednesday. Then Montenegro will play against Iceland (15.30), the Netherlands against Croatia (18.00) and Denmark against France (20.30).
