White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she does not yet know if a meeting between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden could be the next step in negotiations over Russia’s proposed security guarantees. She announced this at a briefing, TASS reports.

“This may or may not be the next step. And I can’t give you a prediction of whether this will happen and when it will happen,” she said.

According to her, if the US presidential administration considers such a step effective, then the meeting can take place, and “the president is always open for interaction between leaders.”

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, said that the United States was ready for further negotiations at the level of the presidents of both countries, “if it would be useful.”

According to him, American leader Joe Biden is ready to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin if this helps resolve the crisis.
