The lower house of the Austrian Parliament voted in the third reading in favor of a bill to introduce mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 from February.

The Compulsory Vaccination Act will apply to all persons aged 18 and over who are registered in Austria. From the beginning of February until March 15, people who have not yet been vaccinated should receive the vaccine. From March 15, a fine of up to 600 euros is provided for violation, the maximum amount of a fine during the year can be up to 3.6 thousand euros, RIA Novosti reports.

The exceptions are persons under 18 years of age, pregnant women, persons for whom vaccination may be associated with health risks. In the case of those who have been ill, the exception is valid for 180 days after a positive test for coronavirus. The vaccine lottery was also considered in the package with this bill – from March 15, every tenth participant will be able to win a coupon for 500 euros for each vaccination.
