Let us remind you: in March 2019, after three years of working with the Polish national team, he decided to fulfill his great dream of taking over the German team. Earlier, he led the Polish team to many successes, such as winning two Nations Cups, the team bronze medal at the Korean Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, or the team medal at the World Ski Championships. Nay! During his tenure, he also won the Olympic gold medal, the World Cup, and won twice in a row. The great merit of the Austrian trainer was also leading such jumpers to the world’s best. However, not everyone wants to build helpers for him in Poland. And certainly not Jan Ziobro.
“Horngacher Destroyed Everything”
– Stefan [Horngacher] came to a country that had good players, and a lot of money is still going on for this sport. He knew that the boom in Poland was amazing, and that Kamil Stoch or Adam Ma³ysz knew the whole nation. For this reason, he closed himself to four or five players with whom he could achieve success quickly. In this way, he wanted to show the Germans his worth, because he also knew that Schuster was going to leave their squad. He knew that if he achieved a result quickly in Poland, he would be able to dictate the conditions of his work when he returned to Germany. And that’s exactly what he did, he played it very intelligently – says Ziobro, quoted by the portal “”.
The former jumper accuses Horngacher of focusing on five players, disregarding the rest. – It was a deliberate act of Horngacher who simply destroyed everything. Where are players such as Krzysztof Miętus, Krzysztof Biegun or Bartek Kłusek today? Where is Grzesiek Miętus located? Where are the players who should be the supporters today and support the A team in crisis moments, such as the current one? They are gone, they are not jumping anymore! I am also not jumping anymore. And okay, anyone can get into a worse career sometimes. But then we should be secured by the back office. We do not have it in Poland – said Ziobro.
The former jumper believes that the Austrian coach sabotaged and most of his decisions were for show. – The Austrian was doing a show in the foreground and purging in the back. It was sabotage. Our great stewards applauded him, patted him on the back, while Stefan stuck out on them and left for Germany. How will they respond to that? Should an activist authorize sabotage? We are destroying ourselves from the inside, but on the main stage, where there is television and other media, we show that everything is fine – he concluded.
Jan Ziobro ended his career a few years ago. Perhaps her best memories are 2015 and the bronze medal at the World Team World Championships in Falun. His best individual position in the overall World Cup ranking was 25th in the 2013/2014 season.
