On Monday night, the mayor of Ambato, Javier Altamirano, convened the cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) to assess the health situation based on reports from the ECU911 and the Ministry of Public Health.

The first thing that was established was the 30% capacity for nightlife places such as bars, discos and karaoke; tourist services and tolerance centers. Activities in hydromassages, saunas and Turkish baths are also prohibited, and it was decided to ratify the 50% capacity in restaurants, cafeterias, supermarkets, banks, cooperatives, shopping centers, gyms, cinemas, theaters, museums, markets and squares.
The prohibition of holding mass concentration events is maintained, in addition to ordering the closure of all commercial activities and services throughout the canton from 10:00 p.m.
The COE decided to prohibit the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages and moderation from 10:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday. In addition, it was decided to maintain the restriction of vehicular mobility from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., except for strategic sectors and public transport.
Altamirano again called for the co-responsibility of citizens as the only way to combat and overcome the pandemic, in addition to the population going to the vaccination sites to receive the doses.
He said that as a Municipality, control operations will be tightened throughout the canton, which will be done in coordination with the Government of Tungurahua, the Police Department and the National Police.
Decisions in Salcedo
The cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) of Salcedo, which met this Monday afternoon, decided to prohibit several activities that were approved unanimously from the 18th to the 23rd of this month and reiterated that once the deadline has expired, the results will be analyzed to making new decisions.
