Prosecutor’s Office investigates the case of a girl who suffered blows to the head in Santa Elena; minor died in Guayaquil hospital

A pediatrician at the Liborio Panchana hospital noticed that he had several affectations in his skull.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Elena initiated a preliminary investigation to clarify whether a 7-year-old minor identified with the initials MAMP, had been beaten by a member of her family nucleus.

The alert was registered after the girl was taken to the Liborio Panchana hospital in Santa Elena. A pediatrician at the nursing home noticed that he had damage to his skull.

Hugo Rosales, a member of the Santa Elena Cantonal Board for the Protection of Rights, indicated that they received a police report stating that the mother alleges that the minor suffered the beatings allegedly when they were participating in a “game.”

The minor was transferred to a public hospital in the south of Guayaquil, where until the weekend he remained in critical condition.

Rosales added that protection measures were dictated to the minor so that she can continue with medical treatment, so that she can recover. However, this afternoon, this newspaper learned that the minor died in the local health home.

For his part, the provincial prosecutor of Santa Elena, Edmundo Briones, indicated days ago that the incident is being investigated.

For now, authorities have not reported on detainees in this possible new case of child abuse. (I)
