The Olympic flame of the XXIV Winter Games in 2022 in Beijing has arrived in China, RIA Novosti reports with reference to China Central Television.
The Olympiad symbol was brought from Athens and lit by organizers in Ancient Olympia on Monday. Then, early Wednesday morning, the plane with the delegation of the Games organizing committee landed at the Capital International Airport (Capital Airport).
The ceremony took place at Panathinaikos Stadium in the presence of Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, Head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Greece Spyros Kapralos, Special Representative, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing and Vice President of the NOC of China Yu Zaqing.
Earlier it became known that Rostov-on-Don, Vladivostok, Perm, Novosibirsk, Sochi and Ufa expressed a desire to host the Summer Olympic Games in 2036. On September 23, it was reported that the Russian Olympic Committee is considering the possibility of filing an application to host the 2036 Summer Games in several cities of the country. The head of the organization Stanislav Pozdnyakov noted that he allows such a development of events due to the geographical location of Russia.
