NATO and the EU need to keep their positions close and not allow Moscow to blackmail. This was stated by German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, reports DW.

“The security of our allies is our security, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. At this stage, there are serious threats to her, ”said Lambrecht.

According to her, “red lines should be clear in all upcoming negotiations” with Moscow. “Russia has no veto power in matters relating to the alliance and cannot blackmail us. The Russian Federation does not have the right to veto in matters of its expansion,” the minister stressed.

“We must use all means to defuse this conflict,” added Lambrecht. According to her, “the deployment of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine violates all the rules of peaceful coexistence.”

The minister called on Moscow to comply with international law.

Lambrecht promised to meet next week with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
