Authorities: Two security officials beheaded during riots in Kazakhstan

During the clashes in Alma-Ata, 13 law enforcement officers were killed, 353 were injured. Two dead security officials were beheaded, the commandant’s office of Kazakhstan told RIA Novosti.

The country’s state television described this as evidence of the terrorist nature of the protesters’ actions.

It is known that 2,000 people, including a Russian citizen, were detained during a sweep in Alma-Ata, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.

Also, Kazakhstan has suspended the entry of foreign citizens into the country in connection with the state of emergency.

In the city of Aktau, shops do not work, there is no Internet and it is impossible to withdraw cash from ATMs. There is excitement and long queues in the stores of Nur-Sultan, but, as local TV assures, there is no shortage of products.

Protests in Kazakhstan began in the early days of the new year due to a sharp rise in prices for liquefied gas. Clashes between protesters and security officials began. Police in the city of Almaty announced the elimination of “dozens” of protesters who attacked administrative buildings. The government resigned, while the CSTO Collective Security Council decided to send a collective peacekeeping force to Kazakhstan at the request of the president of the republic.
