One deceased and two injured in a barber shop in Flor de Bastión, in the northwest of Guayaquil

There are already 49 violent deaths in the country, 20 of these cases have been registered in the province of Guayas.

A 35-year-old man was murdered in block 1 of Flor de Bastión at 1:00 p.m. this Thursday while he was being treated in a barbershop in the area.

The business owner and his 17-year-old brother-in-law were also hit by the bullets. Both were injured in the arms and were taken to the hospital in Mount Sinai, where they are stable.

Meanwhile, dozens of police officers arrived at the crime scene to surround the place and collect the evidence along with the body of the victim, who was left in the middle of the business.

Colonel Pablo Guachamín, head of the Nueva Prosperina district, indicated that it is still being investigated in which vehicle the attackers arrived, but said that at least two fired shots. 22 ballistic evidence was raised at the scene.

The policeman also clarified that the crime responds to a selective death and that the victim would have at least four criminal records for drug trafficking, possession of weapons, concealment of stolen objects and robbery.

With this crime, violent deaths rise to 49 nationwide, only in Guayas there have been 20 of these cases.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 5, two more hitmen were registered in Guayaquil. The first occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Avenida 25 de Julio. A port worker who was finishing his workday was gunned down as he was driving home.

The victim had no criminal record. At least 17 workers at this port terminal have been murdered in recent years by drug gangs who recruit personnel to contaminate the containers with drugs.

An hour after the murder in the port, on the road to Daule, the hearing coordinator of the National Service for the Deprived of Liberty (SNAI) was shot after leaving his place of work (he had his office in the Penitentiary).

A motorist was arrested for this crime. The suspect on Thursday afternoon received the order of preventive detention and will be sent to the same jail. Now the agents are investigating whether this death was ordered from the Litoral Penitentiary. (I)
