Roberto Carlos Avilés Jiménez was murdered in the Guayaquil suburb this Friday a few hours before the end of 2021. The 28-year-old man was shot at at 7:30 p.m., when he was leaving a sports complex in the sector and on his way home .
Avilés was intercepted on Pedro Pablo Gómez and 11 streets by subjects who arrived in a gray truck and shot him three times while he was driving his father’s vehicle.
The injured man managed to drive three more blocks down Calle 11 and stopped the car at the Febres Cordero highway.
Neighbors said that when they observed that vehicle in the middle of the street, they thought that the driver was in a state of alcohol, but when they got closer they noticed that the car had several bullet holes and that the victim was bleeding.
They notified ECU911 and when the ambulance arrived the paramedics confirmed the death. Minutes later, relatives of the victim arrived at the crime scene.
The Police raised three ballistic evidence at the scene and reviewed the security videos of the sector.
Minutes after the Avilés crime, another man was shot at the Sergio Toral cooperative, in the northwest of Guayaquil. The victim, identified as Anthony Mera Mala, was at his girlfriend’s home with his father-in-law when two men arrived on a motorcycle.
The witnesses said that the hitmen entered the house and shot the 26-year-old man twice, who died at the scene.
In the early morning of January 1 there were other cases. In the Los Vergeles sector, at the height of the Narcisa de Jesús highway, a young man was wounded by a gunshot by an individual who came walking to the area. The victim in that case is Luis D., 17, who was transferred to a hospital.
Doctors confirmed that the minor had four injuries; in the thorax, in the skull, in the back and in the arm.
In the Primero de Mayo cooperative, in Guasmo, in the south of the city, another assassination attempt was made. According to witnesses, in a car came several men who shot two men standing on a corner.
The victims were transferred to hospitals in the area. Jacinto P., 45, suffered two injuries to his back and hip and Juan M., a shot in the leg.
In parallel, on Medardo Ángel Silva and 16 streets, Steven Aguilar Velásquez, 23, was killed in the middle of a street fight.
The wounded man was taken by his relatives to a nearby hospital where his death was confirmed as a result of a stab wound.
In the Cristo del Consuelo sector, another violent event was registered in the early morning of this Saturday, January 1. On 12th and C streets, a man was shot in the middle of an assault. The victim told the police that an armed man threatened him to give him his cell phone and wallet and when he opposed the assault he was shot in the ankle.
In Guasmo another violent assault was reported early this Saturday. A 15-year-old young man who was walking to his grandmother’s house in the El Cóndor cooperative was intercepted by a man on a motorcycle who, under threats, stole his belongings.
The minor was shot in the leg, but is recovering in a hospital.
