Popova allowed the epidemiological situation in Russia to worsen after the holidays

The situation with the spread of coronavirus in Russia may worsen after the New Year holidays. This, according to RBC, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.

“Considering the upcoming New Year holidays, when the number of contacts between people is already increasing, the risks of the spread of the new omicron strain are increasing. And we can expect a worsening of the epidemiological situation after the weekend, ”she said.

She added that Rospotrebnadzor specialists will switch to an enhanced mode of operation on New Year’s holidays. So, for example, round-the-clock vigils will be organized.

Today, according to Popova, the “delta” strain dominates in Russia, which entered the country with travelers.

“But not from India, but from the resort areas of the world, where our citizens rested, and it also spread quite widely. As I said, today it remains dominant in the Russian Federation, ”said the head of Rospotrebnadzor.
