Deputy Rashkin stripped of his driver’s license and fined 30 thousand rubles

State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Valery Rashkin was deprived of his driver’s license and fined 30 thousand rubles. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a representative of the office of the magistrate of judicial district No. 1 of the Lysogorsk district of the Saratov region.

As the interlocutor of the agency explained, the case was considered in a closed court session. According to her, a decision was made to impose an administrative penalty in the form of deprivation of a driver’s license for a period of one year and six months and a fine in the amount of 30 thousand rubles.

The case card on the court site’s website indicates that Justice of the Peace Elena Chetverkina found Rashkina guilty under Part 1 of Article 12.26 of the Administrative Code of Russia (“Failure by a vehicle driver to undergo a medical examination for intoxication”).

Let us remind you that the deputy was detained with a moose carcass on the night of October 29 in the Saratov hunting grounds. He admitted killing the animal, however, explained that he was aiming at the wild boar and shooting, being deceived about the legality of the hunt.

The car with the carcass of the animal was detained by an employee of the hunting and fishing committee of the Saratov region. The Investigative Committee pointed out that it also revealed the fact of illegal hunting of a wild animal.

Rashkin was charged under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on illegal hunting. Under this article, the politician is threatened with a fine of up to a million rubles or imprisonment for up to five years. In addition, the parliamentarian will be brought to administrative responsibility.

As reported by the Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, Rashkin was driving with signs of intoxication: he emanated a “pungent smell of alcohol”, his speech was disturbed.

On December 13, the Basmanny Court of Moscow granted the petition of the investigator to elect the State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. At the request of the investigation, Rashkin is prohibited from visiting hunting grounds, sending and receiving correspondence, using any means of communication and the Internet. He also cannot communicate with witnesses (and other persons involved) in a criminal case and leave the place of residence without the written permission of the investigator from 23:00 to 07:00.

Earlier, the State Duma agreed to deprive Rashkin of parliamentary immunity at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Rashkin himself considers the scale of the scandal “completely disproportionate to the gravity of the offense.”
