The Central District Court of Barnaul has sentenced four former teachers and the ex-head of the private kindergarten “HAPPY BABY” (“Happy baby”). They were found to have committed a number of crimes provided for by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including torturing the children entrusted to their care.
The alarm was raised by one of the mothers, who discovered back in 2018 that her child was being abused. It was possible to find out that children are being locked in dark rooms, shocks and other “educational” measures, thanks to the testimony of video cameras. In total, the investigation counted about 400 episodes of violence against 15 inmates aged from two to seven years.
The former head of the kindergarten, Elena Vorotnikova, was sentenced to four years ‘suspended imprisonment, the court sentenced the former educators to three to five years’ suspended imprisonment with a ban on teaching. Also, the court partially satisfied the claims of the victims in the amount of 750 thousand rubles.
