Russian volunteers arrive on the territory of the unrecognized republics in eastern Ukraine to strengthen the defense against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the Reuters news agency, citing four anonymous informants.
Three out of four Reuters informants have dealt with recruiter-recruiters who did not explicitly say who they represent. At the same time, two out of three people accepted the offer. One of the informants said that he fought in Ukraine and in Syria “for the interests of the Russian special services.”
At the same time, sources interviewed by Reuters report that they are not aware of the plans for a hypothetical Russian attack on Ukraine or the corresponding preparations. This applies to both volunteers and contractors, one of whom directly said that the deployment of the militia of the unrecognized republics is being carried out for defensive purposes.
Meanwhile, some of the world’s media continue to report that Russia is still building up troops on the border with Ukraine.
